Rationale

This program is designed to provide participants with extensive hands-on experience to gain the skills and knowledge required for entry-level positions in the development and maintenance of websites. Participants in this program are deemed to have already gained basic design skills but wish to explore a more creative application of these skills and upgrade their professional or work-earned abilities. They will be trained to employ their skills in the creation of effective and distinctive website design and implementation. Instruction will focus on the technical aspects of web design including media integration, web authority tools, and interface design.

  • The skills gained will provide participants with creative edge and enhance marketability that can be used to change career direction or be applied to current position and industries
  • To prepare participants for advance trainings as well as higher level abilities in entrepreneurial endeavors and private projects

  • ESSENTIALS OF WEB DESIGN - This course builds upon the basic competencies in computing. In addition to learning web design, students will study content that includes operating systems; basic HTML, dreamweaver and navigation of the Internet, Intranet an WWW.

  • INTRODUCTION TO HTML - This course is designed as an introduction to to learning the Web's language. The main objective of the course is to develop the code necessary to create and maintain Internet pages for business. Students will learn the fundamentals of programming using the Internet/Web Markup languages, Scripting languages. Students will gain an understanding of fundamental programming concepts.

  • CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (Joomla) - A content management system is a software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. It supports the creation of, management, distribution, publishing and discovery of corporate information. It covers the complete lifecycle of the pages on your site, from providing simple tools to create the content, through to publishing, and finally to archiving. It also provides the ability to manage the structure of the site, the appearance of the published pages, and the navigation provided to the users.
  • WEB DEVELOPMENT WITH PHP, APACHE and MySQL - This course provides the foundations for the students to start writing PHP applications. Using the power of PHP, Apache and MySQL, web designers can make their wbsites dynamic. PHP processes information submitted through HTML; MySQL stores the information in a database; and PHP retrieves that information again for the user.

  • WEBSITE GRAPHICS - This is an intensive hands-on workshop on how to design visually engaging and content-rich websites that will drive more visitors and deliver a more effective brand campaign.
  • Participants will acquire necessary knowledge about technical considerations that impact on Web design. Issues covered include cross-platform and cross-browser designing; the nature of WWW imaging; navigation and usability; and interactivity. Functional and effective web design includes the proper use of typography, color combination, the correct selection of images and web elements that make up a good website.
  • WEBSITE MARKETING - This course will help the participants company/organization/institution optimize the use of its website as a marketing communication tool, through making an effective and efficient contribution to the achievement of strategic goals.
