AQ Foundation
Our Beginnings
AQ Foundation was founded on September 2002. In association with the Center for Research and Extension Services (CRES) it has taken the task of linking the University to community and social development efforts in the Bikol region. Previously, CRES an organic unit of the University solely carried that task. The birth of AQ Foundation, an academe-based NGO which however possesses a high degree of autonomy has enhanced the vigor and flexibility of Aquinas University's community involvement and social development initiatives.
The Reason for Our Existence
Bikol region has consistently ranked as one of the poorest regions in the country. Mired as it is in poverty, it is further beset with issues of political instability, environmental degradation, and cultural stagnation. The desolate situation of Bikol prompted Aquinas University to establish the AQ Foundation in order to enable it to take active part in the efforts for positive change and regional development. It envisions a development that brings about people empowerment, socio-cultural transformation, and environmental sustainability.
Our Vision
In a life of truth and of love out of gratitude, we envision dynamic and empowered Christian communities continuously working for the integral development of the human person and society.
Mission
AQ Foundation is an institution of development catalysts guided by the principles of social justice and equity practicing a living education and evolving development models reflective of the Aquinian character.
