Role of AQ in Climate Change

Four core functions of the University

  • Instruction
    • Aquinas University of Legazpi performed educational reprogramming to include climate change (NSTP and A2C2)
  • Research
    • AQ is setting up a Weather Station in Fra Angelico Building
    • List climate change on the agenda
    • Design weather-proof shelters and disaster management plans
  • Extension Service
    • Conduct relief operations, rehabilitation work (volunteerism in Habitat for Humanity, for example), and community health service
  • Production

AQ measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change

  • May 1995- the College of Engineering declared itself smoke free
  • September 1997- AQ made anti-smoking a university-wide policy
  • January 2000- the AQ University Council, by a wide majority margin (of more than 60 members only three voted against it), passed Resolution 2000-01 re-declaring AQ as smoke-free
  • November 2002- the University officially adopted the Waste Segregation Program during a launching graced by Engr. Daniel Dingel, inventor of the watercar.
