Sirangan

Even before typhoon "Reming" wrought destruction to the Province of Albay and the University, Sirangan has already been one of the University's priorities. Sirangan is a knowledge resource center to be established at the center of the campus accessible to students, researchers, stakeholders and the community. The establishment of the center is necessitated by the University's involvement in regional development, by the students intensifying need for access to information and technology, and by the University's need to streamline its educational and information services to the students and the public.

While still repairing damages brought by typhoon "Milenyo," the University survived typhoon "Reming" with infrastructure damages close to Php60,000,000 and to facilities and equipment at Php40,000,000. The University, however, has been able to launch successful relief operations that served around 25,000 families while clearing up its campus, buildings and facilities and was able to resume classes on January 3, 2007. The University's College of Nursing fielded its students a week after the typhoon who helped hospitals that were understaffed by the number of victim-patients and attended to the health needs of various evacuation centers.
