AUL Dance Troupe performs in Indak Pilipinas
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in cooperation with Philippine Folk Dance Society spearheaded the Indak Pilipinas 2017 Folkloric Dance Festival and Conference on March 6 to 9, 2017 at Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo Main Theater.
Twenty-seven students of Aquinas University of Legazpi (AUL), members of the AUL dance troupe, showcased their skills in performing different folk dance traditions.
The AUL Dance Troupe presented “Orog na Pagkamoot (An Undying Love)” – a story about the evolution of love and affection. The story revolves around Bitoon, a young barrio lady who eventually became the center of fascination of two suitors: Aldaw, the persistent suitor of the young woman, and Bulan, the frustrated engkanto lover who later on succumbed to a malevolent plot in order to capture Bitoon. The repertoire featured Bikol dances such as Lapay Bantigue, Pandanggo Rinconada, Sinakiki, and Pantomina.
The festival featured leading folk dance troupes from different schools in the Philippines.
