OSDASA spearheads OFW Family Day

The Overseas Filipino Worker Dependents, Single Parents, and Differently Abled Students’ Association (OSDASA) organized the annual Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Family Day on Dec. 1, 2017, at the Daragang Magayon Hall (DMH). Now in its fifth year, some 200 OFW dependents from the Senior High School and College Departments participated in the event with a theme “Enhancing Reintegration: Leaving no Migrants and their Families Behind”. The activity also coincided with the 2017 OFW Family Week Celebration and Month on Overseas Filipino Workers which was scheduled on November 30 to December 8, 2017.

The morning activity was composed of numerous topics from different agencies. Yco M. Tan, a former OFW and the president of TANVERA Corporation, related his challenging experiences as an OFW. Meanwhile, Jenivie Aguallo from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) presented the programs, services, and updates of the government office. Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal also imparted an inspirational message to the OFW dependents of University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi (UST-Legazpi).

OWWA facilitated the event during the afternoon. The participants were divided into five groups which were led by an officer or volunteer member of OSDASA. A series of games was conducted to have fun and to establish camaraderie between the members. Prizes were given to the winners. To sum it all up, OSDASA held the annual election of officers which will handle the organization next academic year.
