FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Legazpi Thomasians Party in Retro

Jumpstarting a great year ahead, the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi Supreme Student Council (UST-Legazpi SSC) transported Legazpi Thomasians back in time with Nostalgia: The Grand Welcome Party 2018 at the St. Dominic Grounds on the July 13 with the theme: retro vibes of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Despite the threat of recurring rain showers throughout the day, it was still no match to the youthful optimism of everyone. The free ice cream and cotton candy courtesy of the SSC added to the euphoria of the students. Furthermore, everyone looked their best with their own individual retro-inspired outfits-of-the-day (OOTDs).

The Bicol All-Stars dancers and the UST-Legazpi Dance Troupe heated up the stage and gave the crowd energetic and colorful flashback Friday performances. Breathtaking performances of soloist, Iris Jane Binco, and violinist, Judes Michael Orlina, together with Jonathan Gonzaga mellowed things down as the night was still young.

Up and energized, everyone was in for a treat with songs from the lineup of local and home-grown bands: Darling of the Abyss, IENDA, and the Starter Pack band. Finally, DJ Macky Mouse, the headliner of the event, put the cherry on top with a dance party pumping up the crowd with grooves and mixes. As the first welcome party as official Legazpi Thomasians, the endorphins ran high in supply preparing the tertiary students for another challenging year ahead.

Aside from the performances, two different all-expense paid travel packages, three days and two nights for two persons to Caramoan and Bicol Tri-province from Bicol Travel and Tours, were given away thru a nostalgic Bring Me game. The audience was asked to fish out trinkets from the past and old black-and-white photos.

Booths from Biggs’s Diner, Globe, Picnic D’Lyts, and BSHM students were also present. Other sponsors for the event were Happy Hut Productions and Ibalong Travels and Services.
