UST-Legazpi engages students, personnel to be disaster-ready

The University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi (UST-Legazpi) with the supervision of the Office of Student Services capped the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) with a disaster drill on July 30, 2018. All students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and visitors took part in the said drill. The purpose of the Earthquake, Fire, and Mass Casualty Incident Drill is to keep our university prepared should any of these befall on us.

With the consistent support of the Emergency Response Team consisting of different employees and students, UST-Legazpi was able to garner a 9.5/10 rating from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

BFP pointed out that the first aid team comprised of senior high and college students trained by the University Clinic, evacuation, and assembly were the remarkable components of the university’s disaster drill while the response, the “duck, cover, and hold,” needed to be strictly observed by the community.

The endeavor of OSS is not only for the compliance of the NDRM, but it is a commitment of the university to guarantee the safety of its members and also be a leader in Bicol regarding disaster risk management and preparedness.
