Legazpi Thomasians showcase linguistic skills in Speech Festival 2018

In its 6th year, the Speech Festival once again became a medium for the students of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi (UST-Legazpi) to showcase their skills in language. The event was held on August 7, 2018 at the DaragangMagayon Hall (DMH).

Students from the Basic Education Department, Colleges, and the Graduate School participated in the event.

Representatives from the Junior High School (JHS), Senior High School (SHS), and the Colleges competed in Oratorical Contest with the theme “St. Dominic, Preacher of Joy.” The Extemporaneous Speaking with the theme “St. Thomas and Good Governance,” was divided into two categories. Category A was for the JHS, SHS, and College while Category B was for the College of Law and Graduate School. Grade 4, Grade 5, and Grade 6 students competed in Speech Choir Category B with the piece titled “Kalikasan – Saan Ka Patungo?” by Avon Adarna. Meanwhile, JHS, SHS, and College students competed in Category B with the piece “Ang Piring ng Batas” by Katrina Tan.

The judges in the contest were Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres and Dr. Shirley N. Maloles of Bicol University and UST-Legazpi’s very own Fr. Felix C. Legaspi III, OP.

The Center for Sports, Wellness, Culture and the Arts organized the Speech Festival in celebration of Buwan ng Wika.
