Graduating college students prepare to be job-ready

The Office of Media, Alumni, and Public Affairs (MAPA) conducted another placement program entitled Pabalon: A Comprehensive Guide to Career and Employment for graduating college students of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi (UST-Legazpi) on July 31, 2018 at the Daragang Magayon Hall (DMH). Pabalon in partnership with JobStreet.com aimed to prepare graduating students in the rigors of job-hunting.

During the morning session, Ricardo De Jesus, a marketing specialist from Jobstreet.com, delivered a talk called JumpStart. The advantages of a Legazpi Thomasian graduates were discussed by Dr. Walter Randolph C. Jalgalado, MHA, hospital administrator at UST-Legazpi Hospital. For the afternoon session, Kurt Essa Rastrullo, MAEd, RGC, shared some of his experiences as the proprietor of ISMUGOL Coffee Shop to help students discover their entrepreneurial skills. Christian C. Antiquera, the human resource specialist from the regional office of the Civil Service Commission, tackled the process of acquiring civil service eligibility. Senior Research Specialist Sharon Moyano from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) inculcated the importance of financial wellness to the audience. To cap the whole-day activity, Engr. Arturo Corbe, chief of the technical services and support division of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region V, had a talk about labor education.
