PS partners with San Beda on unique dual-degree Law program

The Aquinas University of Legazpi (AUL) College of Law has partnered with the Graduate School of Law of San Beda College to transform AUL’s LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) Program into an LL.B.- Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.) dual program. It will start this Academic Year (AY) 2012-13.

The partnership was negotiated by AUL College of Law Dean Atty. Emerson B Aquende with San Beda College Graduate School of Law Dean Fr. Ranhilio C Aquino.

Atty. Aquende said the offering is the only program of its kind in the country, and will upgrade the current Law Program of the Professional Schools.

Under the collaboration, the LLB-MLS dual degree program will be offered as an optional track for full-time students beginning first year entrants in AY 2012-2013. Students may still opt to take the LLB Program in lieu of the dual degree program.

Students taking the said program will take an additional 12 units load and submit a thesis. San Beda College will supply law professors to teach the subjects Seminar on Forensics and Seminar on Comparative Civil Law.

AUL will be the conferring institution for the LLB degree, while San Beda College will confer the MLS degree.

Students taking the MLS program will be assessed by San Beda College.

For inquiries, contact the AUL College of Law at (052) 820-8730 and look for Mrs. Melba Antivola.
