Bicol schools gather for envir protection, disaster management meet

Delegates from various Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the region are in the University for the three-day Philippine Association of Tertiary Level Educational Institutions in Environmental Protection and Management (PATLEPAM) Regional Conference on Innovations for Environmental Protection and Disaster Management, July 25 to 27, 2012.

The meet is intended to showcase and promote the innovations of HEIs, local government units, non-government organizations, and the private sectors for environmental protection and disaster-risk reduction management.

The conference also aims to provide a venue for exchange of ideas and recognize creativity and innovations related to environmental protection and risk reduction management; and to gather student and faculty researchers and artists with common interest on environmental protection and management.

Some 17 technical papers will be presented during the course of the event, both in the faculty and student categories. An exhibit has also been set up at the Daragang Magayon Hall showcasing theme-related photos, videos, from participating schools.

The last day will be devoted to photography, video, and song-writing contests.

PATLEPAM is a network higher education institutions founded to enhance information exchange and sharing of environmental protection and management among member institutions, among others.
