OAGP spearheads parent seminar on understanding students

The Office of Admission, Guidance, and Placement (OAGP) is spearheading a one-day seminar on understanding students, dubbed Ang Hirap ko Daw Kausapin, July 28, intended for parents of first year college students of the University.

The event is a seminar for parents on managing relationship with teens.

“Parent monitoring has a big effect in the academic performance of students. This is a seminar aimed to promote understanding of the nature of teenagers, and ways in monitoring them,” said OAGP Director Maja Francisco.

Guidance Counselor Kurt Rastrullo said the seminar specifically targeted parents of freshmen students since they are seen to be in a transition to a new environment.

Topics to be discussed are Enhancing your Communication with your Teenage Child (Dr. Susan Bobadilla), and Parenting Teens: Connection, Monitoring, Autonomy (Dr. Arlene Aguilar).

The event will be held at the Media Center Hall from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
