AUL Grade 7 student excels in IMAS test

Aquinas University of Legazpi (AUL) Science High School Grade 7 student Errol John Suarez has been awarded the silver medal for performing impressively in the first and second parts of the International Mathematics Assessments for Schools (IMAS) given in November 2011 and January 2012, according to the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Philippines.

IMAS was launched in 2011 by Math experts from the Philippines, Taiwan, Canada and China to develop and measure students’ performance, especially in the cognitive aspects of knowledge, application, and reasoning.

Suarez was awarded the silver medal for being in the top 6% to 15% of all IMAS participants in the Philippines, according to Simon Chua, President of the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Philippines. Suarez was trained by the AQUI Math Department.

The gold medal is awarded to participants who score 95% and above; silver, 85% and 94%; and bronze, 70 to 84% .With data from mb.com.ph
