Preschool and Elem students greet the sem with a Trick-or-Treat

On Monday, November 13, 2017, a total of 86 children trooped to different offices within the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi to conduct the cutest trick-or-treat event this university has ever seen.

These children were grouped up and prepped by Carlo Añonuevo, a third year Marketing Management student, along with the other members of the Student Assistantship Program (SAP), wherein Carlo is the president. Partnering with the different offices of University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi, they were able to host the event called "Trick or Treat 3: The Spooky-Cutie Opening." The organizers’ objectives in hosting the event were to introduce a different approach to trick-or-treating wherein children need not scare people any longer just to get candies from them, as well as to greet the start of the second semester with zest and laughter. Also, this is an income-generating project of the SAP.

Initially, 11 offices partnered with the SAP to give candies to the trick-or-treaters. These were the Office of Religious Affairs, Office of Rector and President, Office of Media, Alumni, and Public Affairs; the University Clinic, University Library and Information Services, Office of Student Services, Office of Guidance and Testing, Office of the University Controller, Office of the Registrar, Senior High Department, and the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Fine Arts. Later on, the Preschool and Elementary Department consigned to support the trick-or-treating of their students.

“We didn’t have issues that hindered us from conducting the event successfully,” explained Mr. Añonuevo. “As a matter of fact, the kids behaved better compared with the previous years that we held this event.” The organizers were very happy with the result of the event, and are looking forward to a better experience hopefully next year.
