CCI conducts community extension workshop

The Center for Community Involvement (CCI) of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi (UST-Legazpi) spearheaded “Iribahan, Tarabangan, Ka-Tomasian”, a one-day community extension workshop, on July 30, 2019 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm at St. John Macias Student Pavilion Hall B.

The activity was a gathering of community extension representatives, department heads, and deans of the university. Ms. Karen B. Lladones, CCI director, shared and echoed salient points from the Certificate Course in Community Organizing she completed on April 2019.

The participants were also oriented about CCI’s mandates and programs. The policies and procedures were also presented by Ms. Hazel M. Bermundo. A review on the institutional and departmental community initiatives was also done. It guided the participants in coming up with a comprehensive community involvement plan specifically for its partner community, Barangay Lamba, Legazpi City. It was also anchored on the HELPS framework and was based on the community needs assessment. Dr. Susana C. Cabredo, Vice President for Academic Affairs joined the CCI team and provided her insights and assistance in facilitating the workshop.

A major breakthrough was the coming up of a term coined for community extension program of the university, which is HERAS TOMASINO.
